Wisconsin wind power progress stalls because of outdated grid
Monday, July 6th, 2009Wisconsin has the capacity to generate and use far more wind power than it currently is using – but it has no way to get that power to the people. According to Wind on the Wires, a coalition of wind energy advocates, “Transmission is the glass ceiling”. The American Wind Energy Association says that over 70,000 megawatts of wind energy projects are on hold in the upper Midwest because the current energy grid can’t handle the additional power. That energy could power 14 million households.
