Hydrogen Cell Experiment Pays Off

The first Kitty Hawk moment of the 21st Century took place in Hamburg, Germany on July 7, 2009. On that bright blue morning, a hydrogen cell experiment paid off for the German Aerospace Center. The Antares DLR H-2, a motor glider completely fueled by hydrogen fuel cells, took off under its own power into the bright, blue sky above Hamburg Airport and flew its way into the history books.

Sydney Theater Goes Solar

The Sydney Theater is about to become host to Australia’s largest building-mounted solar installation. Cate Blanchett has a hand in the 2,000 panel installation. China aims for higher energy targets

China is considering raising their energy efficiency targets again. According to China Daily, China will aim for producing 10% of its energy needs from sustainable sources by 2010, 15% by 2020. Some government officials say that China will hit 20% renewable energy use by 2020. Catchy slogan in there somewhere – 20% by 2020, hm?

Placing giant mirrors in deserts such as the Sahara and using them to reflect light on to generators could provide large amounts of clean energy.
